Review dundalk 18th Apr
Despite just the four runners going to post, Dundalk's Irish Stallion Farms EBF Race served up a real thriller, with little more than a length separating the quartet at the business end.
Victory went to 4-5 favourite Full Moon although Aidan O'Brien's son of Declaration Of War had to work hard to complete a double for his jockey Donnacha O'Brien.
Pacesetter Andesh stuck to his guns, while Downdraft was a persistent challenger down the straight, but Full Moon held him by half a length after taking it up inside the final quarter-mile.< Overcoming was hot on their heels in fourth.
O'Brien junior's brace began when Drapers Guild broke his duck with a clear-cut triumph in the Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Maiden.
Odds-on favourite El Greco put the pace to the race and appeared to have an easy enough time of things, but he was pressed by the Joseph O'Brien-trained Drapers Guild approaching the furlong marker, and the 5-1 shot pulled three lengths clear of Treble Cone < Schoolboy Error (9-2) defied a 3lb rise to come out on top in the Dundalk Stadium - Light Up Your Night Handicap.
Back at the same track and trip over which he struck at the end of last month, the Shane Nolan-trained five-year-old took it up inside the final furlong and beat Dixie Highway by a length.< Poetic Choice snapped an 18-race losing run in the Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Apprentice Handicap.
Robbie Downey had the 7-1 shot near the front of the chasing pack as Mulzamm blazed a trail and she finished her race off well to score by two and a half lengths from Ragtime Red < Archer's Up (6-1) made it two from two on the all-weather with a comfortable success in the Greyhound Racing Every Friday And Saturday Night At Dundalk Claiming Race, beating Elusive In Paris by three and a quarter lengths.< A Likely Story (10-1) offered some encouragement on his debut for Tom McCourt here recently, and stepped forward to claim the LMFM Family Fun Day Sunday May 6th Handicap.
