The ground at Tipperary remains Good to Yielding (watering). Thu 18th MayReadin Tommy Wrong gets Mullins off the mark
Readin Tommy Wrong impressively dismissed his 13 rivals in the concluding Jennings Meats INH Flat Race, providing Willie Mullins with his first winner of the two-day old 2023/24 National Hunt season. Tue 02nd May
They are a nice bunch of horses coming along and Daryl was very good on Readin Tommy Wrong. He gave him a very cute ride and let the main protagonists fight it out before taking it off them in the end. He’s a horse that is improving all the time, very brave — and it’s good for Irish jump breeding that Authorized is standing here this season. That puts him right in the picture for the top prizes in the spring. He looks a typical Ballymore (now the Baring Bingham Novices’ Hurdle) horse and has just kept improving. Paul was very happy with Ile Atlantique at all stages. He did all the donkey work and, as I said, Daryl was very cute and got a tow the whole way and just outstayed him in the last couple of strides. The two of them are going away all the way to the line. I felt before the race that it was the top novice hurdle run in Ireland or England over the whole Christmas period, so I’m very happy they have run so well.

Some of ours are taking a run at the moment and I think he can build on that. Often Willie's (Mullins) biggest problem is he has other horses in the race which can beat them but this was a nice starting point and there is plenty to build on. He jumped big over the last two and it was nice to hear his number being called - I was hoping I wasn't beaten and in fairness the other horse (Lisnagar Fortune) has probably improved. Lisnagar Fortune was dropping back in trip which probably suited.

He’s a winter horse that just got held up, so we said we’d get him out twice. I’d imagine he will be put away now and I think he will make a good novice hurdler next year.
