Button survives enquiry
It was a good evening for Galway trainers who took two of the opening four races at Roscommon when On The Button came home in front of the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle for trainer Val O’Brien.
Connections had to survive a Stewards Enquiry when the winner ‘slightly’ hampered the runner-up Winners Toast and Mikey Butler.
Promising seven pound claimer Keith Donoghue had his mount in front going the second last and the pair stayed on well to hold off Winners Toast by three parts of a length.
Winning trainer O’Brien said afterwards: “I think she’ll get further, we’ll step her up to three miles or maybe something over two mile six furlongs.”
