Presentandcounting (IRE) was kicked at the start by another runner.

Having been examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, the gelding was deemed fit to race.

When jumping the fourth fence, the winner, Caribean Boy (FR) jumped left-handed bumping Zhiguli (IRE) which caused Moore to become unbalanced and his saddle to slip which resulted in him pulling up the gelding shortly after, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Caribean Boy (FR).

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference following the final fence involving Super Six (GB), placed third, ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies and Gemirande (FR), placed second, ridden by Charlie Deutsch.

The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Gemirande (FR)’s placing as having jumped the final fence, Deutsch allowed his mount to move left-handed towards the rail, at the same time as Super Six (GB) improved to its inside, getting to within approximately a head, whereupon he ran out of room as a consequence of Gemirande (FR)'s drift.

This resulted in Twiston- Davies having to take a significant check and in Super Six (GB) becoming unbalanced and losing significant ground.

Thereafter Super Six (GB) rallied all the way to the line, to be beaten a diminishing ½ length.

The placings were therefore revised as follows: First; Caribean Boy (FR), Second; Super Six (GB), Third; Gemirande (FR), Fourth; Herbiers (FR).

Deutsch was suspended for 6 days for careless riding as in allowing his mount to drift left-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear of Super Six (GB), he caused considerable interference to that gelding when placed up against the rail.

Following the race, Harry Cobden reported that Unanswered Prayers (IRE) was badly hampered by the faller at the tenth fence which resulted in him pulling the gelding up shortly thereafter; the Veterinary Officer reported that the gelding lost its left-fore shoe.
