Adrian Nicholls had obtained prior permission from the BHA to run Thornaby Beauty (GB) with no hind shoes.
Permission was given for Monte Forte (GB) to go early to post.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 2 furlongs out involving Midnight Flame (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Jason Hart; Tantalus (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Paul Mulrennan and Aurora Glory (IRE), unplaced, ridden by James Sullivan.
Hart was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he had edged right-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear, causing Mulrennan to take a check which in turn caused Sullivan to take off heels for several strides.
Shortly thereafter, the rider of Silverlode (IRE), unplaced, had to take off the heels of River Usk (IRE), placed second, and in doing so gave a slight bump to Thornaby Beauty (GB), placed third, causing both horses to become unbalanced, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
