Permission was given for Asbaagh (IRE) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Lerryn Lass (IRE), ridden by William Carson and trained by Brett Johnson, which was slowly away and settled in the rear, making moderate progress before appearing to be tenderly handled in the home straight to finish tenth of twelve, beaten by 14 lengths.
The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly, shortly after the race, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated that his instructions were to take his time, avoid going out wide and to give Lerryn Lass (IRE) a hands and heels ride.
He added that the filly was slow out of the stalls but picked up the rest of the field quickly enough.
He further added that he asked Lerryn Lass (IRE) for an effort going into the bend, that the filly stayed on at one pace and in his opinion achieved the best possible placing.
The trainer stated he was satisfied that the ride accorded with the instructions given.
He added that he was aware of the filly having suffered several issues prior to joining his yard and that Lerryn Lass (IRE) would likely want further in time.
Their explanations were noted.
Following the race, Nicola Currie reported that Brown Eyed Girl (GB), unplaced, hung right-handed.
