The winner, Carbon King (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Ascot on 4 November 2023, where the gelding was pulled up over Hurdles.
Evan Williams’ explanation that Carbon King (IRE) was suited by a return to fences was noted and the gelding was routine tested.
The performance of Knowsley Road (IRE), which was pulled up, was considered.
The representative of Paul Nicholls' explanation was noted that Knowsley Road (IRE) appeared to be unsuited by the Heavy going on this occasion and would appreciate less testing conditions.
Approaching ½ a furlong out, the winner, Carbon King (IRE) hung sharply left-handed briefly impeding Fine Casting (IRE), placed second, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that there was no riding offence involved and that it had not improved the placing of Carbon King (IRE).
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that The King Of Ryhope (GB), placed third, lost its right- fore shoe.
