The performance of Smart Connection (IRE), placed sixth, was considered.
Alice Haynes could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance, other than it is inconsistent.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination, during routine testing of Smart Connection (IRE), failed to reveal any abnormalities.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside 2 furlongs out involving Scheggi (IRE), placed third, ridden by Graham Lee, The Nu Form Way (FR), placed fifth, ridden by Ben Curtis, Afkaar (USA), unplaced, ridden by Joanna Mason and Smart Connection (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Kieran O’Neill.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Scheggi (IRE) had edged right off the heels of the rapidly weakening Zoom Zoom Babe (GB), unplaced, giving The Nu Form Way (FR) a slight bump, which moved that gelding off its intended line which in turn caused Mason to take a significant check and in doing so, gave Smart Connection (IRE) a slight bump.
Following the race, Joanna Mason reported that Afkaar (USA) suffered interference inside 2 furlongs out.
