The Stewards enquired into an incident in the straight involving St James Gate, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, placed fifth, Acting Talent (USA), ridden by N.G. McCullagh, placed third and Sweetest Taboo, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed first. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental and took no further action. J.A. Heffernan, rider of St James Gate, trained by John Joseph Murphy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount may benefit from a step up in trip.
