- Stewards Report
Permission was given for Pablo Del Pueblo (IRE) to wear a red hood, and go early and be led to post.
Having reviewed the start the Stewards were satisfied that Paddy Bradley was mounted when the start was effected, and therefore Pablo Del Pueblo (IRE) was deemed to be a runner.
Paddy Bradley, the rider of Pablo Del Pueblo (IRE), was unseated shortly after leaving the stalls.
Bradley was interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
It was found that no other horse or rider was involved and was caused by Pablo Del Pueblo (IRE) stumbling leaving the stalls, causing Bradley to become unseated.
Shortly after leaving the stalls, the loose Pablo Del Pueblo (IRE), took Toussarok (GB), placed fourth, and Count Otto, which finished first but was subsequently demoted to second following a Stewards' enquiry, off their lines causing them to race wide in the early stages of the race.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, Count Otto (IRE), ridden by Benoit de la Sayette, and Magical Merlin (IRE), placed second, ridden by Adam Farragher.
The Stewards considered that the interference was accidental and had improved the placing of Count Otto (IRE) as the gelding had shifted right-handed despite the rider’s best efforts, intimidating and moving the fast-finishing Magical Merlin (IRE) notably off its line for most of the final furlong, to be beaten by a quickly diminishing neck.
The placings were revised as follows: First, Magical Merlin (IRE); Second, Count Otto (IRE); Third, Grenham Bay (IRE); Fourth, Toussarok (GB).
Count Otto (IRE), which finished first before being demoted to second in a Stewards' enquiry, appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newmarket on 26 June 2023 where the gelding finished last of eight, beaten by 8 lengths.
The representative of Amanda Perrett explained that Count Otto (IRE) had settled better on this occasion with the reapplication of a hood.
