End Of The Affair was representing restricted trainer Victor Ward for the first time here, following her sale from Dermot Weld's yard and won well. Ward later reported "End Of The Affair was a tearaway when we got her but she has settled much better now. We bring her to the beach and spend loads of time training her and it has paid off today." This was not a particularly strong event but the winner can win more handicaps.

Storm Averted had been running without distinction over hurdles over the winter but returned to his best Flat form here. He has not won since September '07 but is running from a mark which he can win from again.

Solar Sail is paying the handicap price for some good form last season but cannot be ruled out of future handicaps while well backed pair Glenmuir and Sagarich never looked like winning.

Majestic Cheer refused to race.

Non-Runners were the three reserves.
