QUEEN ALTHEA looks set to revert back to hurdles at the Punchestown Festival after being prominent throughout, and kept on well despite her rider losing his whip inside the final furlong. It made little difference as she was finding plenty, while her closest rivals struggled under maximum pressure.

KARLU and the always prominent KING OF PRUSSIA, a hurdle winner at Wexford recently, both veered about inside the final furlong having held every chance.

The real one to note from this race was DORSET SQUARE, another fit from hurdling. He was hopelessly behind approaching the straight, well detached from the main bunch, but stayed on to great effect in the straight without being asked a serious question to finish fifth. Winner of a 1m6f maiden at Killarney last summer, he looks one to note in a staying handicap.

MAAL was up with the pace until dropping away in the final quarter mile, and his final finishing position is not a true reflection of the run as he was heavily eased.
