Luxie justified favouritism to complete a hat-trick in this open looking contest and what she lacks in size she certainly makes up for in heart and having been pushed along on the turn into the straight, the Acclamation filly took it up a furlong out and held on by a fast diminishing half a length from two late finishers Castle Bar Sling and Corana who had only a short head between them.

Castle Bar Sling took a while to get going on her seasonal debut and had snippets of form last season that suggested there could be a similar contest in his closet. This was a first attempt over a mile and it may prove to be the ideal trip for the colt who was rated 73 going into today's contest.

Corana off four pounds lower than her final outing last season, put in a career best effort here as she still searches for a maiden victory. Her second placing came in a Dundalk maiden over seven and a handicap over the same trip at that venue may be on the cards now.

Solid Air was reported lame by trainer Eddie Lynam and he was pulled out early in the morning, giving first reserve Liberty Love the opportunity to get a run. Jim Bolger's charge was then the subject of a big plunge from 16/1 into 9/2 before going off a 5/1 chance. He was prominent throughout but just didn't quicken up like the winner or the two late arrivals on the scene. Has ran credibly in both handicap starts and will surely land one in due course.

Gracious Girl was another who was the subject of big money early in the morning and before the off but Enda Kelly's charge had to settle for fifth spot and just wasn't good enough on the day.

But of the winner, he will be now given a break and then brought back for the second half of the season and Dermot Weld described her as "adaptable to all grounds."

Cullenstownstrand's rider Paul Townend reported to the stewards secretary that his mount "ducked at the road," and that in turn caused interference to Blue Law, Darraghs Day, and Rochester Falls.
