Permission was given for The Sedberghian (IRE) to go early to post.
Inside 1½ furlongs out, Rivas Rob Roy (GB), unplaced, shifted quickly left-handed bumping Roundel (GB), unplaced, causing both geldings to become unbalanced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approximately 1 furlong out, the winner, Hooflepuff (IRE), hung quickly left-handed as its rider was attempting to pull his whip through to his left hand in order to correct the gelding, badly hampering Melakaz (IRE), placed second, which in turn carried Elegant Love (GB), placed fifth, off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Hooflepuff (IRE).
Following the race, Kieran Shoemark reported that Roundel (GB), unplaced, changed leads on several occasions in the home straight and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
