An enquiry was held into the running and riding of On We Go (IRE), ridden by Alison Clarke and trained by Kenny Johnson which was ridden in rear throughout before finishing seventh of eleven beaten 26¼ lengths.
The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the mare during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated her instructions were to jump off handy, but added that having been shuffled back at the start and after being sticky over the first 2 hurdles, she was further back than she would have liked.
She further added that she asked for an effort from the bottom of the hill, to which the mare stayed on at one pace.
The trainer stated that he was satisfied with the ride given, considering the mare had been inconvenienced at the start and jumped deliberately over the first 2 hurdles.
He added that in his opinion she had obtained the best possible placing.
Their explanations were noted.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Sometimes A Fox (GB), unplaced, was suffering from mild post-race heat stress.
