Carberry paddles safe passage on River
he's very lazy and when he gets there he thinks he has done enough. He did a piece of work the other day which was way better than anything he had done before and if he hadn't made that mistake at the second last, he'd probably have won well.

I was a bit disappointed with his jumping down the back straight but Chris said he just couldn't see the fences with the sun and he was depending on the horse to get him out of trouble. He could go to Leopardstown in a few weeks time; he's a big horse, 17.1hh, and wants a big galloping track. Anything form two miles to two and half miles suits him.

Flood and Flynn win Amateur National
the lad's (Jamie Flynn) 7lbs claim was a big help and he's a good rider who you could see him making it as a professional. He stayed well and and he had won here over this trip earlier this season.

'Supreme' favourite works for Grade 2 win
he idled going to the last and fiddled it but when Paul asked him he felt he had plenty in the tank. He pulled hard which used up petrol but as he goes up in grade, they'll go faster which will help. He'll come on from that and I loved the way he fought back when he looked beaten.

Flanagan back on track with Railway win
she's very tough but Sean said she was leaning a bit to her left. We've always liked her although she is not the most straightforward to keep right; she had a slight issue with her wind after Listowel which we got sorted and while we were planning to go to Fairyhouse over two and a half miles, she came right so we decided to come here instead. We'll see how things go but she is the sort of mare who learns as she goes along.

Annie Oakley powers to Punchestown win
she has been threatening to do that but never settled at Limerick over Christmas so we put all the kit (a different bit and ear plugs) on today. Getting her settled was the main thing today and she'll make a lovely chaser.

'The Townie' gets the best out of City Slicker!
he's (City Slicker) a very difficult to ride and myself and Paul (Townend) were going to make the running with him. However just as I was about to leg Paul up, Frank (Berry, McManus' racing manager) suggested we should hold him up as there were only seven runners. I didn't think Paul would be able to hold him but he got him anchored in behind one or two and it worked and it has now opened up a whole new vista for the horse because he can now go out in trip. It looked today like he might settle in another one or two more runs and that will make a huge difference to him because, previous to today, he has been way too free but now we might be able to get the ability he has out of him. I think he'll be a lovely horse over fences next year and he should settle better over fences.
