Permission was given for Citizen General (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start.
Approaching the final furlong, the winner, City Spirit (GB) lugged quickly right-handed shifting Citizen General (IRE), placed second, slightly off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of City Spirit (GB).
The winner, City Spirit (GB) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newbury on 21 July 2022 where the filly finished seventh, beaten 13 lengths.
Andrew Balding representative’s explanation that the filly had improved from its seasonal debut and the first-time application of a hood, was noted.
City Spirit (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, Laura Coughlan reported that Goodison Girl (GB), unplaced, stopped quickly and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the filly failed to reveal any abnormalities.
William Muir & Chris Grassick reported that Eddie The Beagle (GB), placed fourth, ran in snatches and was unsuited by the going, officially described as GOOD TO FIRM, FIRM in places, and would benefit from a slower surface.
