Permission was given for Kimifive (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood and for Oriental Spirit (GB) to wear a red hood to post.

Port Noir (GB), trained by Robert Stephens, ran the previous day, 08 April 2024, at Bath, finishing eighth of nine runners.

Having been examined by the Veterinary Officer, the mare was deemed fit to race.

An enquiry was held to establish the circumstances which led to a false start being called in this race after the stalls had initially failed to open when the Starter dropped his flag and pressed the button.

Kimifive (IRE), ridden by Mia Nicholls, Gordonstoun (IRE), ridden by Daniel Tudhope, Mudlahhim (IRE), ridden by Elisha Whittington, Ravenglass (IRE), ridden by Finley Marsh, Swiss Rowe (IRE), ridden by Jack Mitchell, Absolute Dream (IRE), ridden by Oisin Orr, Port Noir (GB), ridden by Marco Ghiani and Carry On Aitch (IRE), ridden by Rhiain Ingram were all withdrawn after having completed the course prior to being pulled up, whilst Stuart Kittow elected to withdraw his runner Oriental Spirit (GB), ridden by Dougie Costello, which went keenly for several furlongs before being pulled up by its rider.

This left only A Pint Of Bear (IRE), placed second, ridden by Phil Dennis, and the winner, Rose Fandango (GB), ridden by Rossa Ryan, as the only runners after they had both passed Veterinary examinations upon returning to the start, having been pulled up early in the back straight.

The Starters, the Starting Stalls team leader, the Clerk of the Course, the Executive Director, the Advanced Flag Operator, Trainee Advance Flag Operator and all riders were interviewed and shown recordings.

Having heard their evidence, the Stewards ordered a report to be forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
