An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Fiamette (IRE), ridden by William Carson and trained by Anthony Carson, in which the filly was held up in the rear before being asked for an effort under a hands and heels ride in the straight, finishing eighth of ten, beaten by 9¾ lengths.

The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race.

The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Fiamette (IRE) revealed that the filly was a poor mover but was sound.

The rider stated that he regularly rode Fiamette (IRE) and was not given specific instructions but to get amongst the other runners and to finish as best as he can.

He added that the filly jumped well and was happy with the position he had obtained in the early stages.

He further added that the field was going at a slow pace and Fiamette (IRE) lugged left round the bend, he was therefore mindful to hold the filly together down the hill until the straight.

He continued that he rode Fiamette (IRE) out hands and heels in the straight and that the filly, in his opinion, passed beaten horses.

The trainer stated he was happy with the ride and that it accorded with the instructions given.

He added that they would likely race Fiamette (IRE) on a flatter track in the future.

Their explanations were noted.

Following the race, Charles Bishop reported that Percy Willis (GB), placed third, hung left-handed under pressure, Tyler Saunders reported that Way Of Life (GB), unplaced, hung right-handed and George Rooke reported that Mostar Miss (IRE), unplaced, was slowly away and ran too free.
