The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Balearic, trained by Richard John O'Brien, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be lame on his right hind post race
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident about one and three quarter furlongs from the finish involving Roman Bull, ridden by J. Gonet, placed second, Halcyon Spirit (GB), ridden by Tom Kiely Marshall, unplaced, Magnetic North, ridden by C.J. MacRedmond, unplaced, and Hidden Land (USA), ridden by L.T. McAteer, unplaced, where it appeared that Hidden Land (USA) received interference from her outside. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, Tom Kiely Marshall stated that he rode into a gap but it closed when he was half way into it. L.T. McAteer stated that he was holding a straight course when he felt contact on his mounts hind quarters which turned her. C.J. MacRedmond stated that he was asking his mount for an effort when he got a bump from his outside which caused the gap to close and his mount was unable to hold his position. J. Gonet stated that her mount was hanging badly to the left and went in slightly before being straightened. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found that C.J. MacRedmond was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered his record in this regard, the Raceday Stewards cautioned C.J. MacRedmond on this occasion. .
An extended handicap for four years old and upwards rated 47-75
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
Riders - Confined to Riders who have not ridden more than 15 winners under any N.H. Rules or Rules of Racing from 27th June, 2022 to 27th February, 2023 inclusive
