The winner, Elusive Belle (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Bangor-on-Dee on 11 November 2020 where the mare finished fifth of the six finishers, beaten by 22½ lengths on Soft ground.
Nicky Henderson’s explanation that Elusive Belle (IRE) had appreciated the better ground on this occasion and was officially described as Good, Good to Soft in places, was noted.
Following the race, Danny Cook reported that Financier (GB), placed seventh, made bad jumping mistakes at the second and eleventh fences; the Veterinary Officer reported that the gelding lost its right-hind shoe.
Gavin Sheehan reported that Anemoi (FR), which started second favourite and finished last of the eight runners, was never travelling and Harry Whittington reported that the gelding may prefer a slower surface, with the going on this occasion described as Good, Good to Soft in places; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Anemoi (FR), during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The Veterinary Officer further reported that Eritage (FR), placed second, lost its right-fore shoe.
