Sam made a good move to nip up the inner before coming down the hill and it could have been the winning and losing of it. It was a brave move but it worked out great for him,. He lost his form a little bit but had an issue after he ran at Limerick last year and it took him a while to get back right. He had a lovely run the last day when he was completely wrong at the weights, but it gave him confidence coming here. I was worried about the ground but it worked out great. Tthere are four involved in the OGB Partnership including Ber (wife) and after he won a bumper we brought him to the sales but couldn't get anyone to buy him. We brought him home and he has now won at the Punchestown festival and has landed a big pot today. We had four winners last year, we've had good old craic again and it has been brilliant.

He's such a laid-back horse, even Derek (O'Connor) said that yesterday. It doesn't take much out of him. James said it felt like he was flat out most to the way, but he finds. He is so laid-back, so it is hard to know if he is flat out or not. We will definitely consider the Petingo and the Irish Cesarewitch that he is entered in. I have to figure all that out with the weights. He would run if the ground is okay, he wouldn't want it too soft. I knew he was in great nick, he hadn't a nut left this morning. I wasn't worried about form-wise, I was a little bit worried about the trip but he stayed very well.

We always liked him a lot and he ran well at Christmas and it was nice to see him put it all together today. You don't expect them to win like that and we thought he was a decent horse all along and I'm delighted for Martin (O'Sullivan),. He's probably good enough to line up in any bumper but I don't know if we need to over-race him. He has had three runs in bumpers now and I don't know what advantage to him it would be to win a winners' bumper so I'll talk to Martin and see how he comes out of the race. He's an exciting type of horse to go novice hurdling next year.

she likes that nicer ground and was entitled to do that. She had experience and it was handy to go out and just keep it simple on her. She wasn't in love with the ground throughout the winter but likes the better ground. She was having a little look in front but I was in control of the race everywhere and was able to dictate away. It was probably surprising it took her so long to win her maiden but her result in Fairyhouse (finishing third at Grade 1 level) was good for breeding later on.
