After race at Curragh Sat, 22nd Aug, 2020 (1st)  That was impressive. I wasn't expecting that, to be honest, I was expecting Speak In Colours to give us a right test and probably beat us. I thought we were always better over five but that is his ground. There aren't too many horses that would live with him on that ground, he just motors through it. This was only a stepping stone to the Flying Five here on Champions Weekend. He's in Tipperary during the week in a Listed race. We don't work him much at home. He's been coming here, picking up prize-money, and using races to step to another race. We just feel he's better fresh like that and he's had a little break, I'd say he's really freshened up well. This time last year he came alive and hopefully he is coming good again. There is a good program. There is the Flying Five, the l'abbaye and Champions Weekend at Ascot. We'll look at the three of them. It's great for Joe as well, he's having a good run of it. Hopefully it keeps raining and if the horses keep running like that I'll be happy. I wouldn't say Battaash is unbeatable but he's going to be very hard to beat. You'd be disappointed that A'Ali didn't show more as he beat us here but that was on better ground. After race at Curragh Fri, 10th Jul, 2020 (1st)  It was good to see him back. The last day was a bit of a mess. A few times we rode him too forward over six including Champions Day at Ascot last year. It was very easy to say that Joe was there too soon but he doesn’t like to be held up. It was more me than Joe last time as I decided to change it up. I left it to Joe today and he told me he’d get it right. To be fair he had to battle and he did. I thought he was beat but he stuck the head down. Denis Gerard Hogan

After race at Naas Sat, 20th Jun, 2020 (1st)  It’s good to see the horse back. We brought him to Doha and he didn’t have much of a winter break. He’d no luck out there — he was drawn wide and got shoved off the bend and the ground was too hard. We were just thankful to get him home in one piece,. He was working with Sceptical a few weeks ago. He probably got disappointed when Sceptical edged him out once or twice. It wasn’t good for his head so we worked him with some lesser types and got his confidence back up. There is a fair chance he could go for the Greenlands next weekend. There are plenty of options and keeping him and Sceptical apart is our biggest problem. I think five is his best trip. Like Sceptical today he just got gobbled up late on in the Group 1 at Ascot last October. Joe gets on great with him and Joey Sheridan gets on great with Sceptical. They might meet one day but for the moment we’ll try and keep them apart. We ran Sceptical today as we felt he needed the extra few days (after his run at Naas). He ran his heart out. Frankie (Dettori) was critical of himself for committing too soon but I wasn’t. I thought we just got outstayed on the day on dead ground by hardened campaigners which we are not. I think we can come forward again from that. We are looking at the July Cup and long term the Flying Five for both of them. Frankie said on better ground and conserving a bit more energy that six would be no problem. There is also the Nunthorpe and I would be favouring Denis Gerard Hogan

After race at Curragh Sun, 13th Oct, 2019 (1st)  That didn’t shock me after what he did in the Joe McGrath. Some people were thinking the handicapper was hard on us (raising him 14lb to 109) but deep down I knew he was right. Denis Gerard Hogan

After race at Curragh Sat, 28th Sep, 2019 (1st)  He’s improving all season and is showing more and more gears all the time. A lot of people were questioning why we were going back to five and not claiming. I thought we would claim at York in two weeks’ time in the 100 grand handicap over six and that will be him done for the season then. Today was his first day at five and I wasn’t shocked (with the performance) to be honest. He did well to get up the hill in Galway over seven! I’d be hoping he’ll be a Listed horse next year. All my staff deserve the credit. He was tricky in stalls early in the season and they all had great patience. Jamie Joyce did a lot of work with him and Joe Doyle is as good as any professional and will ride a lot of mine going forward. He’s a super worker and great with all the younger staff. After race at Galway Sat, 3rd Aug, 2019 (1st)  He is a real improver and it was a hard one to take off Joe Doyle (Tuesday's winning jockey) but he understood and I told him he could ride Caesar's Comet and he finished fourth and wasn't out of it. It is great for everyone and my parents still own a leg of him and Joey's claim (7lb) was a massive help. Joey came in riding out for me one day and I saw him riding work and you'd know he was talented and he is well able to ride. It was unfortunate we lost Kerosin yesterday and I had a dead arm yesterday but rode out this morning and am grand now. It's been an up and down week and we've had some good results and some disappointments and losing the horse was a killer. Denis Gerard Hogan

After race at Galway Tue, 30th Jul, 2019 (1st)  That was super and it is a great story as Joe (Doyle) rode his first winner for me. He rode out his claim very fast in the UK and went away from the game for a year and a half. He has been riding out for me for a long time and I've been months asking him to get a licence and he wasn't ready for it. Six weeks ago he told me he would take out his license and I said 'drive on' and he had his first ride back on Friday night. He is very light, does well and is in my yard every day now. Pat Doyle (trainer) is his uncle and he is a neighbour of mine at home and is from a good racing background. I bought the horse (Make A Challenge) unraced at a Horses in Training Sale and he took time to come to hand and hadn't been going into stalls. He goes down before every other horse now and has to go in early and have a hood on. He is from a right good family and we had been riding him too forcefully. Denis Gerard Hogan

After race at Fairyhouse Thu, 30th May, 2019 (1st)  Joey said there might not be much pace so I told him not to be afraid to go on if they are only hacking and he did. He’s well able to ride, and if he can keep his feet on the ground and stays working away hard we’ll make a job of him. He’s signed on to me and he’s a good worker. If he keeps the head down he has a right good chance as he’s light and rides well. The yard is rocking and it’s good that they are still in good form as we are heading to Epsom on Saturday. I’m looking forward to it. Hathiq is in super nick. He went off at mid-day today. He got 11lb but just has a 4lb penalty on Saturday and has a brilliant draw on the stands’ side in 18. I know it’s a massive step up but he deserves to take his chance at the weights. He’s bounced out of the Curragh but he’ll have to change gear again at the weekend. Denis Gerard Hogan
