The Stewards requested a report from John Joseph Hanlon, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Most Honourable (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent run at Down Royal two days ago. The trainer reported that his charge had been very consistent when the going conditions were good or faster but the ground at Down Royal 2 days ago was watered to produce good ground with yielding in places and this deteriorated with some showers to the extent that his charge did not appreciate the underfoot conditions. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report. K.M. Donoghue, rider of Our Boy Ben (GB) trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having gone lame in running.
