An enquiry was held to consider why Ian Williams was running Aces (IRE) here at Lingfield on going described as Good to Firm, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Newmarket on 13 July 2019 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer’s representative explained that in the trainer’s opinion, the ground at Newmarket was quicker than the official description and, on that basis, they were happy for Aces (IRE) to take his chance today.
Following the race, Silvestre De Sousa reported that Aces (IRE), placed fourth, lost action; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
