Permission was given for Chillon Castle (GB) to go early to post, for both Amnaa (GB) and Toolmaker (GB) to be mounted in the chute, for Mercers (GB) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post and for Jungle Boogaloo (IRE) to be mounted in the chute, go early, and be led to post.
Passing the 5 furlong marker, due to the general slowing of pace, both the riders of Boy George (GB), placed fifth, and Chillon Castle (GB), placed eighth, were forced to ease on the inside rail, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the final furlong when Amnaa (GB), placed fourth, ridden by William Carson, interfered with Boy George (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Kieran Shoemark.
Carson was suspended for 4 days for careless riding for allowing his mount to drift right-handed for an extended period without correction, causing Shoemark to have to take a significant check against the rail.
Following the race, Kieran Shoemark reported that Boy George (GB), which started second-favourite and finished fifth, ran too free.
