An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approaching the final furlong involving the winner, Minella Tara (IRE), ridden by Paddy Brennan, and Northern Poet (IRE), placed second, ridden by Leighton Aspell.
Having viewed recordings of the incident, the Stewards found that there were two incidents of interference the first and most significant of which was caused by Northern Poet (IRE), and therefore they ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
For the first incident, Aspell was suspended for 2 days for careless riding for persistently going for a gap that was not big enough and in doing so, turned the quarters of and unbalanced Minella Tara (IRE).
For the second incident, Brennan was cautioned for careless riding for allowing his mount to drift left-handed without sufficient correction.
Following the race, James Davies reported that Gorgeous George (GB), unplaced, ran too free.
