Permission was given for Dubai Elegance (GB) to go early to post.
Paddy Elliott (IRE) unseated Harry Russell in the chute on the way out on to the course.
Having been checked by a Doctor, Russell was deemed fit to ride.
An enquiry was held to consider the unruly behaviour of Van Dijk (GB), which was slowly away and very reluctant to race, resulting in the gelding being tailed off throughout the race.
Cam Hardie and Antony Brittain’s representative were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
Hardie explained that Van Dijk (GB) had raced with more enthusiasm on its previous run at Southwell on 21 January 2022, and had the gelding been able to race with the pack on this occasion, it may have finished more prominently.
As Van Dijk (GB) had been unruly on a number of previous occasions, Brittain was informed that any future similar behaviour from the gelding may result in the horse being reported to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
Following the race, Billy Garritty reported that Lady Alavesa (GB), placed fifth, was slowly away; Harry Russell reported that Paddy Elliott (IRE), unplaced, was slowly away and the Veterinary Officer reported that Reclaim Victory (IRE), placed sixth, bled from the nose.
