The Stewards enquired into an incident about three furlongs from the finish involving Invincible Diamond, ridden by Adrian O'Shea, placed first, Tagg's Island, ridden by N.G. McCullagh, placed second and Cathy's Pursuit, ridden by W.J. Lee, unplaced, where it appeared Tagg's Island ran short of room and was checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by Adrian O'Shea riding carelessly and consequently cautioned him having taken into consideration his good previous record. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Newton Bomb, trained by W. McCreery, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. P.J. Smullen, rider of Not Really trained by D. K. Weld, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly to the left throughout this race.
