Invincible Diamond stepped up on his promising effort in Cork to take the seven furlong juvenile maiden in Sligo at 7/2.
The colt raced prominently in third for this assignment before improving between horses to lead under two furlongs out. He kept on well in the home straight to beat Tagg’s Island by two and three quarter lengths.
The runner-up and 3/1 favourite ran a bit short of room on the rail in the first half of the race, but was the only horse to try and pursue the winner. She was though three and a quarter lengths clear of Jeune Et Jolie who stayed on for third at 16/1.
Winning jockey Adrian O’Shea said: ““He's a good horse. He never worked on grass before the last day. It taught him a bit and he'll learn more from this today. He'd win over five, but we felt he'd stay as well so said we'd try him over seven here.
“We have three two-year-olds in training. We have a horse by Windsor Knot who could be the best of them and he could run at the Curragh on Saturday.”
O’Shea put up his declared overweight of 2lbs on the winner.
Invincible Diamond had finished fourth at 50/1 on debut in a Cork maiden earlier this month.
There was a morning price gamble on Intense Pride from 20/1 to an SP of 8/1, however, he finished half a length out of the places in fourth.
