Permission was given for Prison Break (IRE) to go early and wear a red hood to post, Lady Samson (IRE) to wear a red hood to post and for Searching (IRE) to be mounted in the chute.
After the last hurdle Meechlands Magic (GB), placed fourth, edged left-handed at the same time as Searching (IRE), placed third, lugged right-handed causing the pair to make light contact on a number of occasions.
After viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of Searching (IRE).
The performance of Prison Break (IRE), which started second favourite and finished unplaced, beaten 76¾ lengths, was considered.
Tim Vaughan could provide no explanation, other than Alan Johns had reported that the gelding ran flat.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Prison Break (IRE), during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
