Having reviewed recordings of the false start, the Starters were satisfied that no riders should be reported for contravening the starting procedures.
An enquiry was held to consider interference rounding the bend approaching the last hurdle involving Hurricane Ali (IRE), placed third, ridden by Sean Quinlan, Ingleby Hollow (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Nathan Moscrop and Bashful Boy (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Philip Armson.
The interference was found to be accidental as Hurricane Ali (IRE) took off the heels of the rapidly weakening Snookered (IRE), unplaced, at the same time as Ingleby Hollow (GB), shifted right and took back off the heels of the rapidly weakening Bashful Boy resulting in Ingleby Hollow (GB) to be short for room and for Moscrop to take back.
Shortly after turning in for the home straight, Finest View (GB), placed fourth, shifted quickly left away from the whip for one hit leaving Ingleby Hollow (GB), placed fifth, momentarily short for room but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Finest View (GB).
The performance of Platinumcard (IRE) which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
The representative of Gordon Elliott could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance other than Platinumcard (IRE) made a mistake at the first hurdle and never travelled there after.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
