The Raceday Stewards received a request from John Queally, trainer of Sacchoandvanzetti, to substitute the nominated rider M.J.M O'Sullivan (stood down following a fall), with D.F. O'Regan. John Queally stated that he had originally intended to secure the services of D.F. O'Regan who regularly rides for both him and the owner, but he was unavailable at declaration time and given that Mr. O'Sullivan was stood down he wished to nominate Mr
O'Regan as his replacement as he had become available. Having considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards allowed the request on this occasion using their powers under the provisions of Regulation 3
The Raceday Stewards interviewed G.B. Noonan, rider of Blanketontheground, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he was in breach of Regulation 10 and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that G.B. Noonan was in breach of both Regulation 10.3(g)(frequency) and Regulation 10.3(i)(time to respond). Having taken his previous record in this regard into account and pursuant to Regulation 10.6(a), the Raceday Stewards suspended G.B. Noonan for 11 racedays.
