An enquiry was held into the circumstances surrounding The Turtle Said (GB) running out prior to the second last flight of hurdles.
The rider, Joe Anderson was interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
He explained that The Turtle Said (GB) had hung badly right-handed from halfway, getting progressively worse causing the gelding to run wide off the final bend despite the best efforts of the rider to keep it straight.
He further added that The Turtle Said (GB) continued to hang violently right-handed in the final straight with the horse not responding to his corrections, resulting in the gelding running out prior to the second final flight of hurdles.
His explanation was noted.
Following the race, Jack Tudor reported that Mr Tambourine Man (IRE), which was pulled up, was never travelling, Philip Armson reported that Vintage Icon (GB), unplaced, ran too freely in the early stages and Joe Anderson reported that The Turtle Said (GB), which ran out, hung badly right-handed.
