The winner, Commanche Red (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Sandown Park on 12 March 2021 where the gelding finished last of the nine finishers, beaten by 45¾ lengths.
Chris Gordon’s explanation that Commanche Red (IRE) had benefited from the application of the first-time visor on this occasion, was noted.
Commanche Red (IRE) was routine tested.
The performance of Top Man (IRE), which started second favourite and finished last of the five finishers, was considered.
Chris Gordon could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.
Following the race, Harry Skelton reported that Mistersister (FR), which was pulled up before the fourth-last hurdle, stopped quickly and the Veterinary Officer reported that the gelding had bled from the nose.
