CARAMIA, an early faller at Thurles just 48 hours earlier, bounced back eventually scoring in good style. A Down Royal bumper winner this time last year, he joined issue from off the pace three out and was one of the few that elected to stay on the far rail in the straight. That decision proved a wise one as he stayed on really well from the last and, on this evidence, an extra two furlongs could prove his option distance.

CARPENTER took it up two out racing down the centre of the track but the favourite landed very tired over the last and folded quickly. The ground was becoming increasingly testing as it cut up with racing, and perhaps a sounder surface will see him in a better light.

WHATDOYOUTHINKMAC loomed up on the heels of the leaders approaching three out but, racing wide in search of better ground, she found little when asked for an effort in the straight. A lightly-raced and beautifully bred mare, she can gain a valuable winning bracket when the ground dries out.

INDALO BAY, a fair handicapper on the Flat and a faller on his only previous hurdle outing over two years ago, shaped nicely staying on into fourth. He's sure to benefit from this experience, and is one to keep in mind in the coming months.
