- Stewards Report
Following concerns raised by the riders at the start regarding the low sun obscuring their vision at the water jump, the Stewards consulted with the Clerk of the Course and ordered that this obstacle should be by-passed for this race.
The performance of Kenyan Cowboy (IRE), trained by Neil King, which was pulled up, was considered in light of this being the fifth consecutive occasion that the gelding had failed to finish a race.
The trainer Neil King and jockey, Max Kendrick, were interviewed during which the trainer reported that Kenyan Cowboy (IRE) is a quirky horse that didn’t enjoy being ridden in behind and didn’t face the kick back on this occasion.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Having heard the evidence, King’s comments were forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
Following the race, Joe Tizzard reported that NO HUB NO HOOBS (IRE), which fell, bled from the nose.
