Permission was given for both Came From The Dark (IRE) and Tolstoy (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start.
Prior to this race, a query was raised with David O’Meara as to why he was running Nomadic Empire (IRE) here at Doncaster on Heavy ground, having reported that the gelding would prefer less testing conditions than the Good to Soft, Soft in places ground at York on 7 October 2022.
O’Meara stated that taking into consideration the limited options available due to it being the end of the season and Nomadic Empire (IRE) being entered in the Horses in Training Sale at Tattersalls next week, he was happy for the gelding to take its chance today.
Inside 1½ furlongs out, a weakening Justanotherbottle (IRE), unplaced, hung right-handed causing Whenthedealinsdone (GB), placed third, to be disappointed for a clear run when it was carried onto the heels of Came From The Dark (IRE), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
