Permission was given for Ahdab (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
A query was raised to consider why David O’Meara, was running Star Shield (GB) here at Haydock on going described as Good to Firm, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Redcar on 18 June 2021 on ground with the same official description.
The representative of David O’Meara stated that the owners of Star Shield (GB) had preferred the engagement at Haydock today.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately 2 furlongs out involving Sucellus (GB), placed third, ridden by James Sullivan and Star Shield (GB), placed second, ridden by Sean Kirrane.
Kirrane was cautioned for careless riding as he angled his mount when not sufficiently clear of Sucellus (GB), bumping the gelding.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the final furlong involving Sucellus (GB), placed third, ridden by James Sullivan and Star Shield (GB), placed second, ridden by Sean Kirrane.
Kirrane was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed when insufficiently clear of Sucellus (GB), causing Sullivan to take a momentary check on the gelding.
Following the race, the representative of Richard Hannon reported that Fox Power (IRE), placed sixth, was unsuited by the going, which was officially described as Good to Firm on this occasion, and would prefer a slower surface.
