He was a little bit unlucky the last day when nothing went right, so I just said to Jamie to take a chance today and go down the fence and see how it would work out. Everything worked out perfectly. First go at a mile and five basically and he did it well. He's only small and he's running in better races with a lighter weight. The last day he had 9st odd but it was a lot of lead when you were putting it on his back, but he carried it and ran well. I definitely thought he had a chance today with the light weight. We have had a couple of Listed winners but this could possibly be the most valuable race we have won. There's a three-year-old handicap in York over a mile and six at the Ebor meeting that we are looking at. We'll freshen him up for that and he should get into it. A galloping track will suit him. The Stewards enquired into possible interference over one furlong from the finish involving Cougar (JPN), ridden by J.A. Heffernan, placed second, and Urban Oasis, ridden by J.A. Powell, placed first, where it appeared that Urban Oasis may have made contact with Cougar (JPN) when manoeuvering out to make a challenge. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, J.A. Heffernan stated that the situation got tight but there was no interference. J.A. Powell stated that he found an opening and felt that while he was tight for room, he had not caused any interference. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings

The Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the final one hundred and fifty yards involving Manu Et Corde, ridden by K.J. Manning, placed third, and Urban Oasis, ridden by J.A. Powell, placed first, where it appeared that Urban Oasis came off a straight racing line and caused Manu Et Corde to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, K.J. Manning stated that Urban Oasis was about a half to three parts of a length in front when that animal made a move across onto the running rail causing his own mount Manu Et Corde to be checked. J.A. Powell stated that his mount was a small and quirky animal and had maintained a straight course when the whip was applied twice but jinked towards the rails while he was giving him another hit. He added that he was aware of the presence of Manu Et Corde on his inner during this part of the race. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were, however, of the opinion that J.A. Powell was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards suspended J.A. Powell for five racedays.

An extended handicap for three years old only that have run three or more times under any Rules of Racing on or before 6th June, 2022, at least one of those runs having been over a distance of nine furlongs or more (105 = 9st 12lbs)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
