Permission was given for Bug Boy (IRE) to go early to post.
The winner, Prince Alex (GB), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Windsor on 13 July 2020, where the gelding finished seventh of twelve, beaten by 18 ¾ lengths.
The representative of Ralph Beckett explained that Prince Alex (GB) was better suited for the step up in trip from 1 mile and 2 furlongs to 1 mile and 3 ½ furlongs on this occasion and also benefited from running in a handicap for the first time.
The gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Silvestre De Sousa reported that Flashing Approach (IRE), which started favourite and finished unplaced, hung left-handed.
Rhiain Ingram reported that she pulled up Bug Boy (IRE), as she thought the gelding had lost its action and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Bug Boy (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
