An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Coeur Serein (IRE), ridden by Jonjo O’Neill Jr and trained by Jonjo O’Neill, which finished seventh of thirteen, beaten by 18 ½ lengths.

The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination during routine testing of the gelding, shortly after the race, failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The rider stated that his instructions were to get the gelding into a rhythm and jumping nicely in order to achieve the best possible placing.

The rider added that he would like to have sat closer to the pace, but due to the strong early pace, he was further back than he would have ideally liked to have been and did not want to take the gelding outside of its comfort zone early.

He further added that Coeur Serein (IRE) made a bad mistake 2 hurdles out and he subsequently felt the gelding start to tire.

The trainer stated that the ride accorded with the instructions given, but he would have preferred if Coeur Serein (IRE) had been further forward in the pack.

Their explanations were noted.

Following the race, Jonathan Burke reported that Tribesmans Glory (IRE), unplaced, ran too free and the Veterinary Officer reported that Where's Tom (GB), unplaced, lost its left hind shoe.

John Ryan reported that Book Of Invasions (IRE), unplaced, was unsuited by the going, which in his opinion was riding slower than the official description of Good, Good to Soft in places on this occasion, which was changed to Good to Soft after this race and that the gelding would prefer a quicker surface.
