Captain Conflict had run well on his only hurdle start prior to running in bumpers and had the form to beat these. He won well, and apart from being slightly untidy at the final flight, put in a sound jumping performance. Winning trainer Willie Mullins later reported "he probably enjoys jumping more than bumpers and was quite gamey today. We'll campaign him as long as there is some juice in the ground and will go for a winners of one next. He'll make a nice chaser."

Dan Kahtan had run well at Fairyhouse recently and ran a sound race again. He now qualifies for handicaps and can win in that grade.

Arcadia Boy is a lowly rated Flat performer but appears to have done quite well for his current trainer. He is no star, and rated 97, is no certainty for any hurdle race but should at least prove competitive in similar events. However, an average Flat handicap over 1m4f+ should prove well within his capability.

Galiana and Blues In The Night both ran ok but Allen Diamond (under pressure a long way out) and Anyaab both disappointed. Another Aboo was a morning gamble (25/1 to 10/1) but was never involved.

Mister Tibbs appeared to be hanging quite badly on the downhill run after three out and looked briefly in trouble before falling heavily at the next. No medical excuse was immediately available but it appears as though the gelding was possibly unsuited by the tight track. He was subsequently reported to have hung badly left throughout the entire race.

Campanile was also reported to have hung badly left on the final circuit before pulling up.

Non-Runners were the three reserves.
