TOP OF THE ROCK certainly had the form to take this and punters weren?t slow about realising it. With his apparent main opponent, bumper winning SPORTS LINE very easy to back, the 5/4 favourite (from 2/1, at least 9/4 in the morning) front-ran and had the aforementioned participant beaten when he walked through the last himself.

Mark Bolger?s 7Ib claim meant TOP OF THE ROCK was receiving 15Ibs from the runner-up, he beat him five lengths. Jessica Harrington described her Beneficial gelding as ?a great big chaser who wants soft ground.? Three miles over the larger obstacles will be his game next season.

SPORTS LINE (he sweated up at the start), is eventually likely to find his true vocation in the same arena and given the tough terms he faced here as a bumper victor, this individual emerged with plenty of credit.

OSCARINCA, rated 92, will likely be good enough in a handicap at some stage. LADY WRIGHT (10s to 5s) settled better than she did on her career bow and her future is not without hope. Winning pointer, BALLYHAMPSHIRE MAN, a half-brother to Ballyhampshire Boy, was beaten from a fair way out. SO BILLIANT whipped around at the start but completed the track, completely tailed off. ANYAAB (14s to 10s) was never involved. BIKER BOY (pulled muscle) was a non-runner.
