Following the race, the representative of Paul Nicholls reported that Flic Ou Voyou (FR), which was pulled up, was unsuited by the going which was officially described as Soft on this occasion and would prefer a faster surface.
Race 5 - 4:43pm.
THE TIE THE KNOT WEDDING CATERING HANDICAP HURDLE RACE (CLASS 5) It was noted that jumping the second-last hurdle, KING OTIS (IRE), placed fifth, was badly hampered by the fall of DEAR RALPHY (IRE), but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when the winner, HILLTOWN (IRE), ridden by Michael Nolan, interfered with FLEMEN’S TIPPLE (IRE), placed second, ridden by Caoilin Quinn.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved HILLTOWN (IRE)’s placing as having jumped the last upsides FLEMEN’S TIPPLE (IRE), HILLTOWN (IRE) had extended his lead and was always holding FLEMENS’S TIPPLE (IRE) to win by ½ length at the line, which was less than the distance in which FLEMEN’S TIPPLE (IRE) was carried off his intended line.
As a result, the Stewards ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
Nolan was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as although HILLTOWN (IRE) drifted right-handed independently after jumping the final hurdle, he then allowed the gelding to further drift right-handed on the run to the line carrying FLEMEN’S TIPPLE (IRE) off its intended line.
