The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the final furlong involving Royal Chief, ridden by M.P. Butler, winner, and Jim Bowie, ridden by Andrew J.McNamara, placed second,where it appeared Jim Bowie suffered interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that while interference occured, they could not be satisfied that the winner had improved his finishing position as a result of the interference and so they made no alteration to the judges' placings and took no further action . The Stewards requested a report from Eoin Doyle, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Royal Chief, winner, as compared with its recent form. However, neither the trainer nor an authorised representative were present to give the report, and so the Stewards referred the matter to the Chief Executive of the Turf Club for further investigation. P. Townend, rider of Bank Bonus (GB), trained by Eoin Griffin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled.
