An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Tyger Bay (GB), ridden by Gavin Ashton and trained by Shaun Keightley which broke well and was settled in mid-division before staying on at one pace inside the final furlong under apparent tender handling to finish fourth, beaten by 11 lengths.
The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the colt failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Being a 7Ib claimer, Ashton was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
The rider stated that his instructions were to jump off and get Tyger Bay (GB) settled into a nice rhythm, to sit as handy as possible in the home straight and to keep both hands on the reins.
The trainer stated that the ride accorded with the instructions given.
Their explanations were noted.
Following the race, Scott McCullagh reported that the bit slipped through the mouth of Rains Of Castamere (GB), unplaced.
