Doctor Grace had a poor start the last night, in a grade higher, and got further back than ideal and had to come around them. She was back in that grade tonight, we thought it looked good and she had a lovely draw. It worked out lovely for her. A reproduction of any of her last two runs would have done what she did tonight. She's game and she tries hard, loves the surface so I am delighted for the Dundalk Racing Club. It is the first horse I've had for them but they are a long time on the go. M Halford, trainer

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident about one furlong from the finish involving Lady Montse, ridden by J. Cleary, placed sixth, Monophonic, ridden by J. Kearney, placed fifth, and Where R U Now Bob, ridden by D

McMonagle, unplaced, where it appeared that Where R U Now Bob was tight for room when challenging between horses. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, D. McMonagle stated that he switched inwards off the final bend but Lady Montse began to roll inwards and carried his own mount leaving him tight between horses. J. Kearney stated that he held the inner position and received pressure from his outside. J. Cleary stated that his mount was wandering beneath him but he was unaware of any challengers on his inner when drifting and corrected his mount when he got a shout from the other riders. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found that J. Cleary was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered his record in this regard, the Raceday Stewards suspended J. Cleary for one raceday. Ian Kearney accompanied J. Kearney at this enquiry

The Raceday Stewards interviewed J. Cleary, rider of Lady Montse, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, J. Cleary stated that mount was responding to the whip and he misjudged his use of it. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that J. Cleary was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards cautioned J. Cleary on this occasion.

An extended handicap for three years old only rated 47-65
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
