Permission was given for Society Queen (IRE) and Airshow (GB) to go early to post.
The winner, Kapono (GB), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Haydock on 8 May 2021 where the gelding finished seventh of eight runners, beaten by 17½ lengths.
Roger Fell could offer no explanation for the improvement of Kapono (GB) on this occasion, other than in hindsight the 7 furlong and 37 yards trip on Heavy ground last time out may have stretched Kapono (GB)’s stamina.
His comments were noted and the gelding was routine tested.
