Permission was given for Yibir (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
A query was raised to consider why John Gosden was running Meritorious (GB) here at Newmarket on going described as Soft, having declared the colt a non-runner at Haydock on 03 July 2020 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that he considered the Soft ground here at Newmarket to be better suited to Meritorious (GB) and was therefore happy for the colt to take its chance and run here today.
Following the race, Kieran Shoemark reported that The Attorney (IRE), unplaced, was slowly away and Robert Havlin reported that Meritorious (GB), which finished last of the nine runners, became upset in the stalls.
